Our History
It was on April 25, 1954 that a group of fifty-two people gathered in a home in
Raytown, MO for the first worship service of a mission congregation that would be
named Peace Lutheran Church.  It experienced rapid growth and soon needed larger
facilities.  Two tracts of land were purchased totaling 7 acres and bounded by Blue
Ridge, James A. Reed Rd., Delmar and 83rd Street.

On this land was a stone mansion which served as the house of worship until March
1959 when the first unit of the long range building program was completed.  The
education wing was dedicated in October 1966.  Rapid growth continued and our
Grow In Peace Child Care Center opened in April 1996.  Here we have the privilege
of sharing Jesus' love with 160 children.

Peace Lutheran Church  (Who We Are)
Grow In Peace Childcare Center was established in April, 1996 and created by
Peace Lutheran Church to meet the needs of children and families in the
community by providing quality child care and Preschool programs from ages 6
weeks to 12 years.

The Early Childhood learning is based on a Christ-centered, Peace-empahaized and
Developmentally appropriate curriculum, integrating these basic philosophies in a
safe and nurturing way.

Grow in Peace has a long-term goal and that is to recognize that Parents have the
primary responsibility and privilege to provide the first Christian instruction and
training for the child.  However, school, as an extension of the church, can
strengthen and support the parents in this responsibility by assisting and nurturing
the child in his/her spiritual, intellectual, emotional, social and physical needs.
